thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
Consider that murder, adultery, stealing and bearing false witness all pass through this commandment.
Take the example of
Matthew 5:30 where Jesus says:
29 Behold, it is written by them of old time, that thou shalt not commit adultery.
30 But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
31 Behold, I give unto you a commandment, that ye suffer none of these things to enter into your heart, for it is better that ye should deny yourselves of these things, wherein ye will take up your cross, than that ye should be cast into hell.
For a man to look upon a woman who is not his own wife, to lust after her, he either is looking upon a woman who is:
(1) Not married and and not his to lust after because she may become another man's wife, or
(2) Married and not his to lust after because she is another man's wife.
In either case, he has coveted that which is not his.
